What is your excuse for not taking a day off? Does it sound something like “I should be doing something”, “I need to make a living”, “What would ____ think?”, “I don’t have time to waste”….You fill in the blank with your excuse. The irony is, our work is infinitely more efficient and effective when we take time to rest. One day of rest per week is healthy–for your body, for your psyche, for your soul. Psychologists say and experience shows that when we are ‘doing nothing’, so to speak, is when our our subconscious mind does a lot of creative work. A ‘flash of insight’ or a fresh way of seeing things often comes after leaving the problem alone. Try ‘unplugging’ for one day this week. You might be surprised at the results!
