Every acupuncturist needs time to replenish their energy (chi) because of the nature of the work we do and that is exactly what I have been doing. It has been brilliant to be clipping errant vines and weeding at sunset after dinners of local grown food and swimming in the sea. The absolute best thing, however, for my well-being has been practicing qigong both in a group and alone in nature for the past four weeks. Qigong, a soft martial art, helps to cleanse the body of toxins and replenish energy at the same time it helps to train the mind to focus. This is absolutely essential to stay strong as a practitioner of Chinese medicine and wonderful for anyone looking to expand their workout routine. My suggestion is to try to find a class or teacher of this Eastern skill and art. I will have more information on this come fall.
In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the season and take advantage of all the fruits of it in your diet—I just picked my first three tomatoes from our garden. Yum.
