Yesterday, I received this gorgeous photo of northern California from my friend Susan who told me she is “taking a break from Facebook” to actually see her friends in person. As usual with this good friend on the other side of the country, I felt the same way. For the holidays, less time “connecting” with others on the network and more face time.
This holiday season, which is about to officially begin, I want to see old friends and not just ‘keep our connection’ on facebook. We will sit down, have a cup of tea, laugh and share memories (yes, I have certain people in mind!). Tomorrow night is dinner with good friends, and the day after I have a new friend stopping by the office.
December is my busiest month of work for the year. Cutting down the social networking and making time for ‘being with’ people is important to remind me just how much I cherish my friendships.
This will be my last blog post until January 3rd 2011, our first official ‘post holiday’ work day. Until then I hope you, too, make time for those you love and like! It is good for the spirit–that part of us that is the impetus for healing and the keeper of well-being.
