What I like most about acupuncture and oriental medicine is the way the person is treated as a whole. For example, a headache is unique. A person presenting with one will be treated in a different way than anyone else with the same symptoms. Their tongues and pulses will not be the same, they will have different secondary complaints and they will have a whole set of different circumstances (external) which may or may not have contributed to the headache. As a practitioner of Oriental Medicine, I not only treat the symptoms (the headache) but the root of the problem as well. In addition, I can offer lifestyle changes, dieting advice and even exercise all within the scope of my practice. Just as touching a point on the outside of the ankle in a particular way may relieve a headache in the back of the neck, so I can touch upon something in the lives of my patients that will have a profound effect on the symptoms.
